Mission Statement of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth

We, the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, an international apostolic Congregation, believe that the Holy Family of Nazareth:

• three persons in communion with God and one another,
• obedient and faithful to the will of God,

reveals to us the profound reality that God is present in the most simple and ordinary experiences of human life.

This vision, which so captivated our Foundress, Frances Siedliska (Mary of Jesus the Good Shepherd), is the source and inspiration for our life and service. Sharing in Jesus' mission of spreading the Kingdom of God's love, we engage in a variety of ministries with and in the Church.

Mindful that it is in an environment of love that persons come to the fullness of life, we witness a family spirit among ourselves, and are dedicated to the moral and religious renewal of family life. We are committed to creating communities of love and hope which celebrate the oneness of the human family.

Charism Statement

We, the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, are called to extend the Kingdom of God's love among ourselves and others by living the spirit of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, whose lives were centered in the love of God and one another.

We witness to this love through dedicated service to the Church, especially in ministry to the family.

Spirituality

Nazareth spirituality is rooted in the Gospel message of love, fostered by an attentive listening for the voice of God in the persons and events of our daily lives, and lived out in the human experience of each day.

The Holy Family of Nazareth, our model, inspires us with the beauty of an ordinary life lived in deep faith and intimacy with Jesus, God-with-us. While externally, our life appears very ordinary and simple, each Sister strives to cultivate an interior attitude of receptivity and reverent awe at the incomparable mystery of God's love and presence with us. Nazareth spirituality, thoroughly grounded in human experience, is a 'mysticism of the ordinary', a path of living contemplatively by which we gradually become more and more able to discover and proclaim the hidden face of God to our brothers and sisters in the human family.
 
In addition to personal prayer, we find special nourishment for our spiritual lives in the Eucharist and the liturgical life of the Church. Trusting the dynamism of the Spirit Who guides the family of God through the ages, we pray daily for our Holy Father and cooperate in the Church's ministry of proclaiming the Kingdom of God's Love to the world.
